What is Inside My Laptop Hard Drive?
In basic anatomical terms there is very little difference between what is inside laptop hard drives and what is inside their larger 3.5″ cousins.
Both will consist of a set of data platters rotated by the platter motor, both will have a set of inductive read write head sensing elements mounted on a fixed arm moving across the surface of the data platters (but never in direct contact with them) in much the same way that the playing arm moves across an old vinyl record.
